Voluntary Faculty Promotions

We are pleased to call for the annual recommendations of Voluntary Faculty Promotions. Each request must include all applicable documentation listed on the Voluntary Faculty Promotion Coversheet. All affiliated faculty should submit directly to their in-house WSU administrative liaison.

Affiliates should submit their completed dossiers directly to the WSU Office of Faculty Affairs.

Completed electronic dossiers are due from the Affiliates to the Office of Faculty Affairs at: fapt@med.wayne.edu  by January 19, 2018. OFA will forward the Affiliate promotion recommendation to the WSU chair for his/her letter of support. The deadline for the School of Medicine's academic departments to submit to the Office of Faculty Affairs at fapt@med.wayne.edu  is February 17, 2018. The promotions will be reviewed in April 2018 and effective at the beginning of the next academic year (August 2018).

Determine candidate that are ready for promotion and prepare packets
January 19, 2018
Affiliates submit promotion dossiers to the WSU Office of Faculty Affairs
January 2018 OFA releases packets from affliates to departments
February 17, 2018
WSU Department submits complete promotion packet to the WSU Office of Faculty Affairs
April 2018 SOM Committee review 2017/2018 candidates
After SOM Committee reviews Notification of promotion sent with appropriate effective date
June 2018 Promotion recognition event with FTA & FTE candidates
August 17, 2018 Promotion becomes effective
 
Required Documentation
  • Voluntary Faculty Coversheet
  • Affiliate Chair's Letter of Recommendation (if applicable)
  • WSU SOM Chair Letter of Recommendation (must contain information about quality of teaching, extent of participation, and length of service)
  • WSU SOM Department P&T Committee Letter of Recommendation (if applicable)
  • Curriculum Vitae (SOM Format)
  • Three Years of Teaching Grids and Documentation (provide documentation of the scope of teaching responsibilities and evaluation data)  
  • Personal Statement
  • Two Letters of Support (from faculty at or above the rank being sought)
  • Copy of Board Certification (if applicable, with certification expiration dates and number noted)
  • Copy of Medical License (if applicable, with license number noted)
  • Miscellaneous (not to exceed 10 pages)
